I gave my Dad a haircut on Thursday. He likes to come to my school when he gets a chance during work to get his haircut, and since I've got his cut down, it takes me about 10 minutes to cut. It works for him, it works for me! It's also fun to see him at school. Every time he comes in, though, it's his goal to try and say or do something that will embarrass me. I think the subject of this effort on Thursday was my blog. He was determined to give me some, as he called it, "blog material". Because, as we finished and I walked him up to the front desk he said, "there you go. Now you have some blog material." Thanks Dad. So, this one is for you. I didn't wanna let you down. Love ya!

The Feeling of Spring
Is it just me, or does this time of year always bring back old, familiar feelings? As the weather starts to warm up, and the sun makes it SO much easier to wake in the morning, I am reminded of end of year tests, graduations, pulling out the summer clothes (which never seem to fit quite the way they did last summer...). This year I am brought back to when I was starting to date Lorne.
This is also a season of change! Kiddos are growin' up... Brett graduates. That's crazy to me! Man. His prom dinner was a success and I loved helping my mom out. She's so cool! Seriously. I never appreciated her in quite the way I do now that i'm married and living on my own. I hope one day I can be half the woman she is.
I anticipate finishing hair school this summer. I can't BELIEVE there is an end! I see the light at the end of the tunnel... the light I honestly sometimes thought i'd NEVER see. But, there it is. Riiiiight in front of me. I'm really going to be licensed? Yes I am! It's such an awesome thought. But, I do realize starting out in the field will sort of be like, school; phase number two. I expect to learn a lot once I actually get out there. I almost feel like you hit a certain point in school when your close to being done, and you are just sort of sitting there until you get out in the "real world". But... I am SO excited.
You CAN be pretty much anything you want! You really, really can. I promise. I know it seems dumb that i'm saying this over being a cosmetologist, but let me tell you. There WAS a day when the idea of me doing hair was nothing but an "in the distant and hopeful future" thought. I knew I was going to start school, but honestly, the thought of finishing was... I don't know? Unreal? But guess what. It's real. Sooo real.
Probably I won't normally post so frequently... as least not right now. I'm just so excited about blogging! It's just a lot of fun. It's like, the new way to keep up a journal. So this is good for me. Really it is. Okie doke. Until next time!

This is Us. :)
So, for my first second post... thought i'd make it a little longer this time and start off with a little about us. Just because I feel like it'd be good to have some background in case I ever make any comments regarding those things which have past...
Lorne and I met in February of 2011. Initially, I had set up a blind date with a couple other friends who had wanted to go on a date to get to know each other. I agreed to come along, so long as I had a date. Lorne was my set-up date, really I wasn't expecting much. My key goal for the fun photo scavenger hunt I had planned was for my friend to have a good time! Well.. Lorne and I had an AWESOME time. We soon found within the first few minutes that we got along really well. We never had one awkward moment. We dated, dated, dated... got engaged July 9th, 2011, and tied the knot on September 15th, 2011 in the Salt Lake Temple. Sealed. For all time and ETERNITY. :) We could never be happier. So, that's our story.
Lorne is a very busy boy with two jobs and going to school at Weber and University of Utah. He is majoring in History with a minor in Spanish, while taking ROTC classes at the U. I am currently in Beauty School at the DATC and plan on finishing this August... fingers crossed. The poor school has had problems in the past loosing hours, so prayers that everything goes well there. I work at Seagull Book and enjoy that job very much. It's been awesome working in such a calm atmosphere and having the opportunity to read for my work. :) I have felt very blessed to have this job for the past two years.
Lorne has about 3 years left of school, due to ROTC. Once he finishes ROTC he plans on joining the Air Force as an officer and hopes to be able to fly. We look forward to seeing if this will be the exact plan, but we keep an open mind as well. While i'm excited to travel, having 3 more years here in good old Utah is just fine with me. Life is good, and we are very blessed.
This is us! Just so ya know. I'm real excited to keep up a blog! I actually had a hard time falling asleep last night thinking of what i'll eventually blog about and stuff... I know. How lame is that? Oh well. Until next time!

First time Blogger!
This is my first post on my first blog. EVER. So, we'll see how it works out. I'm not even sure how it's going to look or play out. At all... or if anyone but me will even read it. But that's okay. This is for fun. In our somewhat-near future we anticipate living out of state (due to Lorne's eventual joining the Air Force) so I decided it'd be okay to try and blog now. So... this is testing the waters! We'll see how it goes. :)
