It's happening... Growing Up.

So, there have been some interesting turn of events for the Nelson's. Okay, really, it's kinda more like, one turn of event.

One turn of event called, "The car you bought for $2,000 with cash dies on you.". Anyone else have that turn of event? Or maybe something similar? We purchased our classy, fancy, '94 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme before we got married last summer for just over $2,000. It seemed like a good deal because it had way less than 100,000 miles on it. Well... little did we know the car my brothers and Dad lovingly nick-named "Widow Maker" wouldn't last quite as long as we thought. You live and learn, right? Riiiiiight. Dear old Widow Maker gave us quite the scare last weekend, so we stuck her in the shop for some repairs, thinking that would hold her over for a few years. Hahaha! It's funny to think about now. Those years turned in to, uh.... days. That's right. We paid $500.00 to drive Widow Maker for a few more days, until she decided to give up the ghost on me on my way to work on Thursday. The engine is done. Forever. We had oil in her and everything, it's not like she'd been neglected. Apparently old cars, like your '94 Olds, just decide they're done after a while and they just... die. Who would have thought? Not us, that's for sure.

So, RIP Widow Maker. I'm going to miss the way you smell... getting in that car after it's been sitting in the hot sun all day reminds me of planning a wedding and getting excited to see my fiance. I'll forever cherish the memory of seeing my brand- new husband of a few hours violently popping the balloons my relatives put in you to decorate you before we left for our honeymoon. And, yeah. I'm gonna miss the sweet '94 style leather seats that were outdated, but OH so comfortable. Our time together was short, but it was alright. I may have complained a lot, but you were a symbol of our new life together, and our sad, small budget. That's really gotta be the only reason i'll miss you. Besides the fact you gave us no car payment.

No car payment. I used to love the thought that we have been avoiding that. I planned on avoiding it for at least 3 more years. Looks like i'll only be avoiding if for another week. Car shopping is hard, man! We've decided KSL will for sure be the way to go.

While this is stressful, I'm so blessed to have my sweet heart beside me. Life gets hard, but it's easier to deal with when you've got your best friend with you all the way. We also rely on the Lord and know that He will always help us. Faith. That's what you've gotta have in trying times... like wondering HOW you're gonna make ANY kind of car payment. It will all work out. It could be worse! I think we are so blessed. There have been many instances where the breaking down of Widow Maker could have been dangerous. Not only was I kept safe, but anytime she broke down I still made it to school, work, etc on time. I'd say that's pretty lucky!

Keeping a positive attitude makes SO much of a difference. Lorne is such a good example for me. I only hope we can continue throughout life with a positive attitude, and use this as something to refer back to for our next "turn of events". Until then...
